Beauty and salon business name ideas

People choose a salon the way they choose a friend’s recommendation: they want to feel they’ll be looked after. A good name sounds welcoming, says what you do, and is easy to pass on.

Ways to name a salon or beauty business

  1. Say the service plainly

A plain name tells someone walking past, or scrolling past, exactly what happens inside. It is hard to forget and easy to recommend.

  2. Sound like somewhere regulars return to

Words like club, studio and point make a salon feel like a place, not a transaction. They suit a business built on clients who book again.

  3. Name the result

Clients come for how they’ll look and feel when they leave. A name about that result speaks to them before they’ve read a price list.

Before you settle on a name

  1. Search the business names register

ASIC won’t register a name that is identical or nearly identical to one already registered. It ignores plurals, “the” and spacing when it compares names, and against other business names it also ignores word order and counts names that sound the same as one name.

  2. Look for trade marks

Registering a business name doesn’t give you exclusive rights to it. Only a trade mark does, so search the trade mark register as well.

  3. Settle the domain at the same time

business.gov.au suggests registering a domain that reflects your business name, even before you have a website. If the .com.au you want is already held, its holder may be willing to sell it.
