How to sell your domain name on Dotto
Dotto is Australian, so every price is in Australian dollars.

Tell us about yourself and the names you hold. We review most applications within 2–3 business days. Once you're approved, you can list your first domain on the free plan.
Set your price
Choose an asking price, or take offers only. When a buyer makes an offer, you can accept it, counter it or decline it. On a priced name you can also let buyers pay over time.
The buyer pays Dotto
The buyer pays through our checkout, and we hold the money while the domain changes hands, so neither of you carries the risk alone.
You transfer the domain
Give the buyer the transfer code from your registrar (often called an auth or EPP code), or push the name to their account if you both use the same registrar.
You get paid
Once the buyer confirms the name is theirs, we pay you the sale price less our 12.5% commission (GST included) and the platform fee. Expect it within 5–10 business days.
Do you need a domain broker?
A domain broker takes on your name for you. They look for buyers, negotiate and usually charge a commission when it sells. That can suit a rare name, or an owner who would rather someone else did the talking.
Dotto works the other way round. Your name sits on a marketplace where buyers browse, make offers and pay, and you stay in charge of the price and every reply. We act as your agent for the sale: we take the payment, hold it until the transfer is confirmed, then pay you.
What is my domain name worth?
No estimate can promise a price. An automatic appraisal can't know who wants your name, and a flattering one is a promise nobody can keep. For a starting point, our free domain name appraisal shows GoDaddy's estimate beside what similar names ask on Dotto. Whatever the estimate, buyers pay for:
- a name that is short and easy to say, spell and remember
- real words, or a clear meaning for a business

Yes, upgrade or downgrade anytime from your billing page. You see the exact amount before you confirm, and the change takes effect straight away. Moving up, you pay for the new plan less the unused part of your current one. Moving down, the unused part of your current plan becomes credit that comes off your next bills.

The platform fee is 1.7% of the sale plus $0.30 when the buyer pays with an Australian card, and higher for a card from overseas. Your payout receipt itemises every line. This applies on all plans, including Free.
Once the buyer confirms they have received the domain, we issue your payout receipt and pay you from our account — expect it within 5–10 business days. We hold the funds until the transfer is confirmed, which is what protects both sides of the sale.
Yes. Any domain with a set price can be bought in monthly instalments, and you can switch this off for any listing. Each payment comes to Dotto, and we hold it while the plan runs. The domain stays with you until the final payment, then you transfer it. Once the buyer confirms it has arrived, we pay you what they paid, less the 12.5% commission, GST included, and the platform fee. If a payment fails, we try it again. If the buyer still doesn’t pay, we may cancel the plan. The plan then ends, the domain stays with you, and you’re paid nothing for it.
We focus on premium, brandable domains. This includes .com, .io, .co, .ai, and other popular TLDs. We don’t accept typosquatting, trademark-infringing, or adult-related domains.
Yes. Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime and you’ll retain access until the end of your billing period. Annual plans are non-refundable but you keep access for the full year.
